Lash extensions are the lowest-effort beauty upgrade there is — until poor aftercare halves their life. The glue that holds your set needs a short window to fully cure, and after that, clean lashes genuinely last longer than dirty ones. Here's the routine we send home with every lash client.

The first 24–48 hours

  • Keep them dry. No showers directly on your face, no steam, no saunas, no hot yoga, and try not to cry at a movie (it happens).
  • Don't touch, pull, or rub. Let the adhesive finish curing without being disturbed.
  • Sleep on your back if you can, or at least keep your face off the pillow.
  • Skip eye makeup and oil-based products around the eyes entirely.

Your daily routine after day two

  • Cleanse daily with a lash-safe cleanser. This is the one clients skip — and the one that matters most. Natural oils and makeup build up at the lash line, break adhesive down, and irritate your eyes. Foam cleanser, soft brush, gentle downward strokes, pat dry.
  • Brush them out. A clean spoolie, once or twice a day, keeps fans fluffy and stops tangles. Brush dry lashes only.
  • No mascara on extensions. It's almost impossible to remove fully and it clumps fans shut. If you must have more drama, book a fuller set instead.
  • Oil stays away from your eyes. Oil-based removers, balms, and heavy eye creams dissolve lash adhesive. Check labels.
  • Hands off. Rubbing and picking pulls your natural lash out with the extension — and that natural lash takes weeks to grow back.

Shedding: what's normal

You naturally shed 2–5 lashes per eye, per day — you just never noticed until each one had an extension attached. Losing a few extensions daily is your normal cycle, not bad work. That's exactly why fills exist: every 2–3 weeks we replace what shed and keep the line full. What isn't normal: extensions sliding off cleanly in clumps within the first few days, itching, swelling, or redness. Message us promptly if that happens. If you have eye pain, swelling or any change in your vision, stop and see a doctor.

How to make fills cheaper and easier

Arrive with clean lashes (we can spend the appointment applying, not cleaning), book your fill before many extensions have shed, and tell us if you've switched skincare or started a new eye product.
