Shapes and lengths
Tell us the shape you love and we will fit it to your hands and your lifestyle.
- Almond – soft, tapered and flattering on most hands.
- Coffin – long with a straight, squared tip.
- Stiletto – long and pointed for a dramatic look.
- Square – clean, classic and practical.
If you are new to extensions, start a little shorter than you think. You can always go longer at your next fill.
Choose a length that fits your week
The best length is the one you can live with. Use this table as a starting point. We will fine-tune it with you at your consultation.

| Your week | A good starting point |
|---|---|
| Desk work and lots of typing | Short to medium square or almond |
| Hands-on work, lifting or workouts | Short to medium, with a strong, rounded edge |
| Your first set of extensions | Short or medium. Go longer at your first fill. |
| Weddings, events and nights out | Medium to long almond or coffin |
| Detailed art or 3D details | Medium to long, with a strong base |
Why careful prep matters
Lifting, bulky edges and sore nails usually come from rushed prep or from the thick part of the nail (the apex) sitting in the wrong place. They are not caused by acrylic itself.
We take our time. We prepare the natural nail gently, place the apex where your nail takes the most pressure, and shape the area near the cuticle so it grows out smoothly.
Get ready for your appointment
- Plan for about 90 minutes. Sculpted sets take about 2 hours and French fade sets about 2.5 hours. Detailed art, a removal or a longer shape adds time.
- Bring up to three screenshots. Include one that shows the colours you like best.
- Tell us if you are wearing product. Add a removal (from $25, about 30 minutes) when you book.
- Mention allergies. Let us know if you have ever reacted to nail products, or if you have a skin or nail condition.
Nail art on acrylic
Acrylic is a strong base for detailed art. Popular choices include a pink-and-white French fade, chrome, encapsulated glitter, 3D florals and hand-painted designs.
Bring up to three screenshots to your appointment and we will adjust the colours, length and shape to suit you. Read more on our nail art page.
Fills and removal
Natural nails grow roughly 3 mm a month. By week two or three the weight of the extension moves forward, so a fill keeps it balanced. We rebalance the nail, check for small lifts and freshen the design.
- Book a fill every 2–3 weeks. Choose every 2 weeks for long shapes or if you work with your hands.
- A fill is usually quicker than a new full set.
- When you want a change, we remove acrylic with a safe soak-off. Please do not pry or peel it.
Our acrylic aftercare and fill guide explains what to do between visits.
Looking after acrylics between fills
- Use cuticle oil every day.
- Wear gloves for cleaning and dishes.
- Use your fingertips, not your nails, as tools.
- If you see a gap or a crack, book a repair. Please do not pick or pry, because water can get trapped under a lifted edge.
- Rebook your fill before week 3 to keep the set balanced.
If you have pain, swelling, heat or redness around a nail, see your doctor.
